A: Careworks walk-in medical clinics offer convenient, affordable treatment for immediate and routine healthcare needs. Staffed by licensed nurse practitioners and physician assistants, the clinics are conveniently located in select Weis, Kings and Mr. Z’s Markets throughout Northeast PA and the Lehigh Valley area. The retail setting allows people to receive medical attention quickly and efficiently.
Q: What does Careworks treat?
A: Careworks’ nurse practitioners and physician assistants treat common medical illnesses such as strep throat, ear infections, pinkeye, seasonal allergies, flu and many others. They also provide physicals for school, camp, sports, driver’s license and pre-employment. They offer immunizations for tetanus, MMR, flu, meningitis, Hepatitis A and B and more. Careworks also draws blood for a wide range of laboratory tests.
Q: When are Careworks walk-in clinics open?
A: Careworks walk-in medical clinics are open every day, including evenings and weekends. Hours are 8 am - 8 pm Monday through Friday, and 10 am - 4 pm Saturday and Sunday. Our clinicians may take lunch breaks from 2 to 3 p.m.
Q: Can I stop in anytime?
A: Yes. We are a walk-in clinic, so stop by anytime. No appointment is necessary.
Q: How long will my visit last? Will I have to wait?
A: A typical clinic visit will last 15 to 20 minutes. If someone else is being seen in the clinic when you arrive, you can take a restaurant-style pager to carry with you while you shop. You will be notified when the clinician is available.
Q: Who is eligible for services at a Careworks walk-in clinic?
A: Services are available for adults and children over 12 months.
Q: Do I need to have health insurance to receive treatment at Careworks?
A: No. With or without insurance, you can receive treatment at Careworks.
Q: How much will my visit cost?
A: One of the great things about Careworks is that it is very affordable. You may save 45-80% compared to an urgent care or emergency room visit for routine healthcare.
If you have insurance that participates with our clinic, your copay is collected at the time of service with subsequent payment of out-of-pocket expenses as determined by your plan. To see the list of participating insurances in your area, first Find a Clinic near you.
If you have insurance that does not participate with our clinic, you pay our advertised discounted cash rates at the time of service and you are provided with documentation so you may seek reimbursement from your plan.
Whether you have insurance or not, you have the option to pay our advertised discounted cash rates at the time of service (a typical visit at the discounted cash rate is about $62). We accept cash, personal checks, VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
Q: What makes Careworks unique in the retail health care market?
A: Unlike the national for-profit chains, Careworks is part of a local health system. Our clinicians are actively supported by leading hospitals and physicians who provide supervision and approve medical guidelines for all treatments.
Q: What are a certified nurse practitioner and a physician assistant?
A: They are certified medical professionals who are able to diagnose and treat many common illnesses, including writing prescriptions when clinically appropriate.
Q: Will my doctor be notified that I was treated at Careworks?
A: It will be your choice if you would like Careworks to contact your family physician to coordinate any follow-up care.
Q: What if the Careworks clinician thinks I’m really sick?
A: If they believe a health condition is potentially serious, they will advise you to either seek care from your family physician immediately or go to an emergency department. If you do not have a family physician they can arrange a referral to one.
Q: Can I go to Careworks in an emergency?
A: Careworks is not intended to be a substitute for an emergency room. In a true emergency, call 911 or go to a full-service emergency room.
