CareWorks Convenient HealthcareSM
offers focused diagnostic and treatment services
from a fixed service menu of common family illnesses
and preventative health and wellness services. Each
clinic is staffed by certified family nurse
practitioners. These professionals collaborate with
physicians from within Geisinger Health System or an
affiliated health system partner, both locally
(clinic visits, telephonic support) and
electronically via Carework’s state-of-the-art
electronic health record.
CareWorks is owned and operated
by Geisinger Health System - a Mid-Atlantic based
integrated delivery system that includes a 600+
multi-specialty physician group practice, three
hospitals, 41 ambulatory clinics, a health plan and
two dedicated research centers. All of Geisinger’s
elements are linked together with one of the most
sophisticated electronic health record platforms in
the nation. In 2005, healthcare information firm
Verispan named Geisinger among the top 25 in its IHN
100 report, an annual assessment of the 100 most
highly integrated healthcare networks (IHNs). In
addition, Geisinger has been named on multiple
occasions as a ‘Most Wired’ Healthcare system by the
American Hospital Association, and has been featured
in articles on online medical records in the Wall
