|CAREWORKS OPENS AFTER-HOURS CLINIC IN DALLAS|
DALLAS, Pa. — Geisinger Careworks After-Hours Care – a partnership between Careworks Convenient Healthcare, Geisinger Health Plan and Geisinger Health System – has opened an after-hours urgent care clinic in Dallas. The facility will be staffed from 5 to 11 p.m. weekdays. Beginning in August, it will also be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. The facility treats minor injuries and helping patients avoid unnecessary emergency room visits.
“The ultimate goal of the Geisinger Careworks After-Hours Care clinic in Dallas is to provide a convenient patient experience for anyone in the community, whether they are a new or existing Geisinger patient, by accepting walk-ins well beyond normal office hours,” Steven Christensen. CEO, Careworks, said. “Because of the overwhelmingly positive reception Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Urgent Care has had in the Wilkes-Barre area and Careworks walk-in clinics have had in Tannersville, Stroudsburg and Clarks Summit, we are confident the new Dallas clinic will develop into a highly valued community resource.”
Geisinger Careworks After-Hours Care in Dallas will mark the second urgent care clinic in Luzerne County to be affiliated with Geisinger, joining Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre’s Adult and Pediatric Urgent Care on Church Street in Wilkes-Barre, a campus of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. The Dallas clinic will be located at the Geisinger-Dallas community practice at 114 Lt. Cleary Drive.
Urgent care clinics treat minor health problems such as allergies, asthma, burns, colds, cuts, fevers and sprains. These facilities offer patients shorter wait times while simultaneously relieving some of the patient volume in area emergency rooms. Like the Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre clinics, patients visiting Geisinger Careworks After-Hours Care in Dallas have access to services including immunizations, labs, X-rays, EKG and IV therapy.
“Many people face the dilemma of waiting overnight to see a family physician or visiting an emergency room,” said Christensen. “Opening after-hours urgent care clinics eliminates this critical decision and provides the residents of Dallas and the surrounding area excellent clinical care with superior convenience.”
