Geisinger
celebrates opening of walk-in medical clinics
inside Weis Markets
TANNERSVILLE — Geisinger
Health System and Weis Markets recently celebrated
the opening of their two newest CareWorks Convenient
Healthcare clinics at Mr. Z’s superstore in
Tannersville, PA, and Stroudsburg, PA, with a ribbon
cutting ceremony.
Representatives from Geisinger Health System as well
as Weis Markets and the Pocono Chamber of Commerce
were on hand at both events Tuesday to mark the
occasion and to discuss the benefits to the
community.
“This new kind of
healthcare is care that works for busy families and
young professionals on the go,” said Dean Lin, Chief
Executive Officer of Careworks Convenient
Healthcare. “It’s care that works every day of the
week, including evenings and weekends. It’s more
affordable care and care provided in convenient
locations where you shop.”
Since August 2006, Geisinger has opened clinics in
Clarks Summit, Allentown and Easton. “Our
CareWorks clinics have a 99 percent approval rating,
and we look forward to continuing the success here
in Tannersville and Stroudsburg,” said Lin.
The in-store
clinics, located in space that Geisinger Health
System has leased from Weis Markets, offers quick,
convenient and affordable treatment for many common
medical illnesses and routine tests. CareWorks
Convenient Healthcare is open every day with clinic
hours of 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Friday, and 10
am to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

No appointment is
necessary, and little or no waiting time is
expected, with pagers available if someone is being
seen when a customer arrives. Most clinic visits
average 15 minutes. Services are available for
adults and children one year and older.
The CareWorks clinic
is staffed by board certified, licensed medical
professionals, Nurse Practitioners or Physician
Assistants who are licensed to treat common
illnesses and write prescriptions when medically
appropriate.
Patients of CareWorks
can receive treatment for common medical ailments
and injuries such as sore throat, bronchitis, ear
infections, minor sprains and strains, flu symptoms
and pinkeye; cholesterol testing and other health
screenings; sports and camp physicals; immunizations
and laboratory tests, including reference lab
testing if required. Prices are posted up front on a
menu board, with most services costing $49. While
patients can pay cash, CareWorks also accepts many
insurance plans. All costs are substantially less
than fees in urgent care centers or emergency rooms.
Additional clinics are located in Clarks Summit,
Allentown and Easton. The CareWorks clinics are
developed and operated by Geisinger Ventures, which
is focused on technology and innovation.
