Our Healthcare team
CareWorks Convenient HealthcareSM clinics
are staffed by certified nurse practitioners and
physician assistants – friendly, helpful and highly
skilled clinical staff who have completed rigorous
training and are licensed to provide many of the
same high-quality health care services as a
physician. They diagnose and treat common illnesses
and perform routine tests, including writing most
prescriptions. They are supported by Geisinger’s
nationally known physicians, who provide
collaboration and approve medical guidelines for all
treatments.
Certified nurse practitioners are registered nurses
with advanced education (most have masters degrees)
and advanced clinical training. They practice under
the rules and regulations of the state in which they
are licensed, and are often nationally certified in
a particular specialty area.
Physician assistants are health care professionals
licensed to practice medicine with physician
supervision. A PA typically has a bachelor’s degree
and four years of health care experience, then
completes a 26-month intensive, accredited education
program.
Your family doctor is a key member of the CareWorks
Convenient HealthcareSM healthcare team. We
understand and respect the importance of your
relationship with your personal physician. We will
notify your physician and provide results of your
tests or treatment soon after your visit to make
sure that your care is effectively coordinated. You
will be encouraged to see your doctor for follow-up
care if necessary, or for chronic conditions, which
CareWorks is not designed to treat. |
