DANVILLE, Pa.- Careworks Convenient Healthcare, a service of Geisinger Health System, recently named Kenneth J. Berndt its chief executive officer. Berndt will oversee the operations of Careworks’ five retail clinics in Allentown, Clarks Summit, Schnecksville, Stroudsburg and Tannersville as well its two after-hours clinics in Dallas and Mountain Top.
“It is with great excitement that we welcome Kenneth Berndt as the newest leader of Careworks,” said Denise Prince, chief executive officer, founder and managing partner, Geisinger Ventures. “His previous work in establishing and growing convenient care clinics throughout large service areas made him the ideal candidate to lead Careworks toward further success and expansion.”
Berndt joins Careworks after spending the past seven years with Bellin Health, Green Bay, Wisc., as both the director of Bellin Health – Business Development and the director of Bellin Health – Fast Care Development. He also spent two years as the CEO of Northreach Healthcare in Marinette, Wisc. after 17 years at Bellin Health as a reference lab manager and clinical services manager. During his time as the Bellin Health – Fast Care Development director, Berndt grew the program to include more than 50 clinics in 14 states.
Berndt earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1977 where he also earned a certificate in healthcare management in 1990. He is also currently enrolled in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s executive MBA program.
