DANVILLE, PA – Geisinger Careworks Urgent Care – a partnership between Careworks Convenient Healthcare and Geisinger Health System – will open an urgent care clinic in Danville in September. The facility, located at 604 Continental Blvd, Suite 100, will be staffed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. seven days a week. The staff of seven new employees will treat acute illnesses and minor injuries, helping patients avoid unnecessary emergency room visits.

“The Geisinger Careworks Urgent Care clinic in Danville is the first clinic of its kind in the area that will provide a convenient patient experience for anyone in the community,” said Ken Berndt, CEO, Careworks. “Whether a new or existing Geisinger patient, by accepting walk-ins well beyond normal office hours, it is our hope that this Danville clinic will rival the positive reception experienced by Geisinger Careworks After-Hours clinics in Dallas and Mountain Top.”

Geisinger Careworks Urgent Care in Danville will mark the first urgent care clinic in Montour County to be affiliated with Geisinger. In Luzerne County, Geisinger operates urgent care clinics at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre’s Adult and Pediatric Urgent Care and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Urgent care clinics treat minor health problems such as allergies, asthma, burns, colds, cuts, fevers and sprains. These facilities offer patients very short wait times while simultaneously relieving some of the patient volume in area emergency rooms. Like the Geisinger clinics before it, patients visiting Geisinger Careworks Urgent Care in Danville will have access to services including immunizations, labs, X-rays, EKG and IV therapy.

“Many people face the dilemma of waiting overnight to see a family physician or visiting an emergency room,” said Berndt. “Opening urgent care clinics eliminates this critical decision and provides the residents of Danville and the surrounding area excellent medical care with superior convenience.”
